Already wondering how you’re going to cope with the stay at home orders? We’re here to help. While no one quite knows how COVID-19 is going to affect Californians, we do know that we could be in for a few weeks of staying home and staying safe.
To bring a little bit of levity to the situation, here are 10 ways that we’ve found to entertain yourself and your family during the stay at home orders:
- Unsubscribe From Junk Emails: This might sound stupid but how many times have you looked at your virtual overflowing inbox and felt like you’d never have time to get through all of them? Well, now you do. There are some handy tools like unroll.me that can help make the burden a little less annoying.
- Clean Out Your Garage: Having time on our hands and being asked to stay home is a great way to start to really see all those areas that need our attention. Whether it’s the garage, basement, or just some junk drawers that have gotten out of hand, this is a great time to make your house a home again.
- Check Out Google’s Museum Explorer: This is great if you have kids or are an art-lover yourself. Google has provided a great way to get to engage with arts and creativity all from the comfort of your home.
- Reach Out To An Old Friend: How long has it been since you’ve really had the time to call up an old friend and chat? If you’re like us, the answer is too long. So take the time today to reach out to someone you care about and let them know.
- Go See A Georgia O’Keefe: Did you know that the Georgia O’Keefe museum has content online? Go check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
- Work Outside In Your Yard: This one speaks for itself–it can be a great stress-reliever and getting some fresh air never hurt anyone.
- Catch Up On Sleep: This might be the best one on the list yet. Everyone we know is sleep deprived at some point or another in their life–look at this as an opportunity to take some time for yourself and get caught up on your zzz’s.
- Dig Out Some Board Games: Even if it’s just you and a partner, there’s always room for board games or puzzles to help pass the time. Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make tough situations more bearable.
- Dig Into A New Podcast: There is no shortage of amazing content being produced every day in the world of podcasting. Now is a great time to settle into a new true-crime series you’ve been wanting to catch or tune in to a travel one like Rick Steves’ for a brief escape.
- Learn to Bake Bread: This is a lost art in our society but it can be really fun and easy to do at home. Check out The Food Network’s article to get started–what’s the worst that can happen?
